Rick Holton, Jr. is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of AlphaCurrent Partners, bringing more than 20 years of experience investing in, operating, and advising entrepreneur-led businesses across both the middle-market and the venture ecosystem. Over his career, Rick has been involved in 250+ transactions representing more than $2 billion in enterprise value, giving him a uniquely multi-dimensional perspective on evaluating opportunities and supporting founder success.
Rick is also a founding partner of Holton Capital Group and FINTOP Capital, where he has led and supported investments in high-growth technology, fintech, and healthcare companies. His venture background provides AlphaCurrent’s clients with differentiated pattern recognition, deep board-level experience, and a strong understanding of innovation-driven markets. He currently serves on the boards of several portfolio companies, including Allwork, Arch Design, Decusoft, EmpowerMe Wellness, InsurePay, KnowInk, and SMArtX.
Beyond investing, Rick is an active civic leader in the St. Louis community. He has served on the board of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) St. Louis Chapter — including a term as Chapter Chair — and contributes his leadership to nonprofit organizations such as the Muny, the St. Louis Science Center, Concordance Academy, and the Great Rivers Habitat Alliance.
Born and raised in St. Louis, Rick earned his bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and his MBA from Washington University’s Olin Business School. His career reflects a deep commitment to entrepreneurship, innovation, community leadership, and helping founders and institutional investors build enduring businesses.
